Leland "Rocky" Rockstraw (Nursing), director of the Clinical Simulation Center, was elected by the National Academies of Practice (NAP) as a Distinguished Practitioner & Fellow. The class of 2021 Fellows were welcomed into NAP in a virtual awards and induction ceremony earlier this month.

Nirmala Lekhak (Nursing) was competitively selected to receive a tuition grant through the UNLV office of faculty affairs to attend the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity Faculty Success Program Summer 2021. This program is designed to teach faculty skills to increase research and writing productivity. 
Crystal Huffaker (Nursing) successfully defended her doctor of nursing practice project on “Improving Self-Care Measures of Hypertension Through Implementation of an Education and Action Plan." She will officially earn her doctor title once her classes are completed.  
Nirmala Lekhak, Lori Candela (both Nursing) and Kweisi Ausar (Hospitality) co-authored a recent publication, "Nurse Spiritual Self-Care: A Scoping Review," in Nursing Outlook. Zandra Johnson (Nursing) successfully defended her doctor of nursing practice project, “Transient Ischemic Attacks Evaluation and Treatment in Specialized Urgent Care Facilities - TIA Care Model." She will officially earn her doctor title when her classes wrap up.
Janelle Willis (Nursing) was honored with the CSUN Faculty Achievement Award. CSUN senators determine awardees based on faculty members' outstanding dedication to students through advising, classroom instruction, mentorship, and/or the facilitation of special events.    
Patricia Nill (Nursing) successfully defended her doctor of nursing practice project, "Improving Therapeutic Communication in Mental Health Nursing: A Quality Improvement Project." She will officially earn her doctorate title when she finishes her courses.
Jennifer Vanderlaan and Mary Bondmass (both Nursing) were recognized for their nursing excellence as part of the Vegas Inc. 15th annual Health Care Headliners award series. Mary Bondmass (Nursing) has two chapters that appear in the fouth edition of  Research for Advanced Practice Nurses (Springer). The chapters are Overview of Evidence-based Practice and Sampling and Sampling Methods.
Dieu-My Tran and Nirmala Lekhak (both Nursing), along with Sheniz Moonie and Karen Gutierrez (both Public Health) co-authored a new published article entitled, "Risk Factors Associated With Cardiovascular Disease Among Adult Nevadans."
