For more than 30 years, UNLV International Gaming Institute (IGI) has provided research-based solutions, cutting-edge insights, and executive education to the global gaming and gambling industry. With expertise in areas like gambling and hospitality innovation, regulation and policy, sports games and esports, and responsible gambling, IGI has been called upon to provide its research to more than 50 jurisdictions across the globe. In addition to these offerings, IGI proudly emphasizes diversity and community outreach through initiatives like the Young Executive Scholars Hospitality & Tourism Program (YES), which gives high schoolers a behind-the-scenes look at the career and educational opportunities that the hospitality industry provides.
Research
IGI's research bridges the applied and academic worlds, focusing on multi-disciplinary studies that introduce academic rigor to global real-world settings. Stakeholders trust IGI's research to provide independent, objective answers to complex questions. Over the years, IGI has advised 50+ national and international jurisdictions on emerging topics in the industry, including: sports betting, esports, responsible gambling, and policy and regulation.
Applied Knowledge & Executive Education
IGI’s Executive Development Program is one of the gaming industry’s most prestigious executive education programs. EDP offers industry executives the opportunity to come together and learn about gambling best practices and implementation in integrated resorts.
Innovation
Our Center for Gaming Innovation class enables students to create their own intellectual property, including gambling games and other casino/gambling-based innovations.
International Center for Gaming Regulation
Our International Center for Gaming Regulation is the world’s first academic center dedicated to gaming regulatory research and education, guiding the world’s policymakers as they make decisions that govern the industry. This Center was launched in 2016 in partnership with UNLV’s Boyd School of Law.
Young Executive Scholars
At the K-12 level, through our partnership with Clark County School District (CCSD), IGI offers the Young Executive Scholars programs (YES). These programs are designed to empower and encourage under-resourced Las Vegas youth to discover the managerial and executive-level career opportunities available to them in the tourism, hospitality and interactive entertainment industries.
