NSHE Property Claims
Property Claims for NSHE owned property are administered by Risk Management & Safety. There is a $2,000 deductible per claim occurrence.
Include the following documents:

NSHE Owned Auto Property Damage
- Accidents must be reported to the police and your supervisor immediately and to Risk Management & Safety (RMS) within 48 hours of the accident.
- Follow the Post-Accident Drug and Alcohol Testing Procedures.
- A claim for vehicle damage or loss must be reported to RMS as soon as possible but no later than sixty (60) days from the date of damage. Fill out a .
- Claims will be adjusted by the State of Nevada Risk Management office. There is a $300 deductible for vehicle claims (collision and comprehensive) and a $5000 deductible for golf carts. RMS will collect the documentation from Facilities Vehicle Repair Services or the Department and file a claim with the state.
- Provide RMS with your department workday PG number to receive your reimbursement. Processing time averages about 30 days after all paperwork is received.
- Windshield replacement claims have a $300 deductible for replacement and require three (3) estimates.
- Windshield *repairs* (rock chips or other damage that does not require replacement) can be repaired for $30-$50 and are reimbursable with no deductible applied and multiple estimates are not required.
- The following documents are needed to file a claim with the State of Nevada:
- Three (3) vehicle repair estimates – Contact Facilities Vehicle Repair Services at 702-895-3186 to coordinate obtaining estimates
- A copy of the Police Report
- Pictures of the damage
- Final repair invoice
- Proof of payment (Workday or P-card transaction)
- Physical Damage Coverage for Rental Vehicles
Vehicles must be rented from companies with that the Purchasing Division and Fleet Services Division have negotiated agreements with.
It is not necessary for the department to purchase additional insurance when renting under those agreements and are part of the negotiated contract rates, which includes insurance coverage.
Usage of the negotiated contracts is mandatory. Any agency renting outside those agreements will be responsible for their own insurance coverage and for any accident claims.
Filing a Third Party Liability Claim
The Nevada Attorney General's Office administers all third party claims against NSHE including:
- Third party property damage or loss claims
- Third party injury claims
- Third party auto property damage claims

- Any relevant documents to support your claim
Submit the completed claim form and attachments to agclaims@ag.nv.gov You can also mail or fax a copy to the number and address provided on the form.
Incident Reports
Incident reports are used to document any harm caused to individuals or damage to property. Incident reports are used as an evaluation tool and to document incidents on campus. .
If you are an employee of NSHE, UNLV, CSN, or NSC, do not use this to report work related injuries. Complete a workers compensation packet on the
NSHE Employee Personal Property, Theft, Damage, or Loss
The Nevada State Administrative Manual or SAM specifically addresses the possession of personal property on state property. According to the Nevada State Administrative Manual (SAM) 504.1.d:
“State employees’ personal property kept or maintained on State property will be considered to be “at their own risk” and to be covered by their own personal insurance.”
If you believe that the loss was due to negligence on the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) and/or the specific campus (UNLV, for example), you can file a claim through the Nevada Attorney General’s office.

An adjuster from the Attorney General’s office will be in contact with you to go over your claim.
You may be able to file a claim with your homeowners or renter’s policy. However, not all standard homeowners or renter’s insurance policies provide coverage for personal belongings that are kept at an individual's workplace. Therefore, it's recommended that employees verify the level of their insurance coverage by contacting their insurance provider.
