In Las Vegas, Super Bowl Sunday means super big bets. The American Gaming Association anticipates more than 50 million American’s will bet on the Big Game. That high number is because Las Vegas is no longer the only place to place your bets anymore. With the expansion of legal sports betting, traditional Super Bowl wagers are expected to pass casual wagers for the first time ever.

The number, while impressive and encouraging for local tourism officials, still falls short of the record 42.9 million in 2016 and 42.5 million in 2019, the last year before Covid-19 broadly affected travel and tourism.
Sports Handle
Sunday’s edition of the Super Bowl will be historic in a handful of ways, including being the first NFL title game to feature two Black starting quarterbacks and the first to be held in a state — in this instance, Arizona — with legal sports betting. But by the time the 2025 Super Bowl reaches its conclusion, at least one of these milestones (and possibly both) will feel like business as usual.

The big-name additions come on the heels of the formation of a partnership between Gaming Society and UNLV’s International Gaming Institute (IGI) that will seek to better understand the behavior of female sports bettors.
