This scholarship is established to honor Samuel A. and Jean V. Gullo, parents of Catherine G. Bellver Distinguished Professor of Spanish at UNLV. This fund honors their memory and perpetuates the generosity they demonstrated during their lifetime.
The Samuel A. and Jean V. Gullo Scholarship shall be awarded to a student(s) meeting the following criteria:
- Student must major in Spanish;
- First preference to a student(s) who is pursuing an M.A. in Spanish. If no worthy candidate is available, then the award may be given to an undergraduate Spanish major with a class standing of junior or senior;
- Student must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher;
- Student must be full-time if undergraduate, or part-time or full-time if graduate; and
- Student must be formally admitted to UNLV.
Recipients may reapply for this scholarship in subsequent years, provided they maintain the scholarship criteria and remain in good standing with the institution.
*Unless otherwise noted, all students who fill out a FAFSA or alternate need form and meet the criteria for the scholarship will be considered. No other application is needed.
*Selected award winner’s name is due to the College of Liberal Arts Dean’s office by December 1st.
