Having grown up with immigrant parents, American politics was never a topic of discussion in Kristina’s home. When Kristina took her first government class in high school, everything was very foreign but incredibly fascinating. Kristina instantly fell in love with the topics she learned about and felt drawn to major in political science. She now plans on going to law school after college.

Kristina is also a member of Pre-Law Women of UNLV, a community that helps women pursue a career in the legal field.

Christian Casarez is the President of the UNLV Sociology Society, a proud member of Philosophy Club, and a research assistant for Professor Grant's Screen Discourse Lab. He is looking forward to going to grad school for Sociology and is excited to see what the future holds.

Kahleia has always found that she has an affinity with history. She has always loved looking at the past and seeing its lasting impact on the world we live in. As a big proponent of people learning from the past, she aims to have her research findings presented either in the digital sphere or through museum exhibitions, places that are accessible to the general public. She works as a research assistant for the History department, looking at the impact of the American empire in the Philippines. When she is not combing through dusty books in the library, she interns at Wooldridge Law Firm and works as a Birthdays Presenter at the Discovery Children's Museum. Though she's not clocked into anything, she is probably playing video games or buying another My Melody for her collection.

Nicole is serving her second year as the President of the Dean’s Student Advisory Council (DSAC) for the College of Liberal Arts, advocating for student interests and helping create a stronger, more supportive community. Her passion for advocacy and justice has also driven her involvement with the ACLU Nevada student chapter, UNLV People Power, where she has served on the executive board for three years. Nicole believes that a supportive environment is essential for individuals to succeed, and she emphasizes the importance of informing students about resources that empower them in their academic and personal journeys. She is also passionate about the power of policy as a crucial tool for advocating meaningful change in the community. Aspiring to pursue a Juris Doctor after graduation, Nicole hopes to bridge gaps for those unfamiliar with legal processes and create a more equitable system.

Chris is a senior at UNLV planning to graduate in May of 2025. He is currently majoring in Psychology with a minor in Family Studies, in hopes of one day becoming a marriage and family therapist. His goal is to eventually open up his own practice in San Diego, and offer therapy to couples, families, and single individuals. Chris works part-time as a Lead Peer Mentor for the College of Liberal Arts COLA 100LA Program, and is also a member of Psychology Club and the International Honor Society in Psychology at UNLV.

Noelani chose to major in psychology because being able to understand people and their habits is such an integral part of any job, especially in the medical field. On the surface, bedside manners and being able to empathize with people seems easy, but those skills can be difficult for many to master. She believes that her major can strengthen her existing skills and better prepare her for her career goals and future in psychiatry.

Brooklyn chose to major in English and minor in Spanish because she finds language to be beautiful. To her, it represents the desire to connect with others and understand other people. She loves the ways people use language and how it is constantly evolving to keep up with modern needs. She also enjoys how language allows her to herself in stories and other vital forms of expression.

Brooklyn is also the copy editor for Beyond Thought Creative Arts Journal.

Betzabel has been very involved on campus. She has been a member of First Generation Club, Feminist Club, and Psychology Club. She is active in PSI CHI, Psychology National Honor Society, and is a peer mentor for the College of Liberal Arts. She is also a part of the Love Yourself Foundation as the Administrative and Outreach Coordinator. After graduating, she hopes to go to grad school to be a school counselor or for higher education. During her spare time, she loves to spend time with her family and watch movies/series.

Thomas is a fourth-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health. With a keen interest in forensic anthropology, Thomas is particularly interested in the ways nutrition impacts the skeletal system. Combining his interests in anthropology and public health, he aims to explore how health interventions can be informed by skeletal analysis. After completing his undergraduate studies, Thomas plans to continue his education, aspiring to earn a Ph.D. to further his research in the intersection of public health and anthropology.

Kelechi is a sophomore studying political science here in the College of Liberal Arts. He has been a member of DSAC and the RPR committee since fall of last semester and has enjoyed every minute of it. Kelechi is also involved in the Rebel Events Board and CSUN student government here on campus, and is always willing to talk to those who come up to him. He hopes to eventually go to law school and become an entertainment law attorney, working to elevate the lives of artists and athletes.

Brooklynn is an English Major who is passionate about connecting to her community and is interested in pursuing a career in law and becoming an entertainment lawyer. She loves crafting and learning languages. Outside of DSAC she is a member of the The Warrior Queen Project: A Women's Empowerment Program, and is a peer mentor for the college of Liberal Arts. She considers her favorite days to be when she curls up with a good book and her flame point Siamese Halley.

Having been born and raised in the City of Las Vegas, Brandon recognized early in his life that UNLV was a place that he would someday want to call home. However, as a descendant of a once lower-income family, a student who struggled throughout grade school, and a thought-to-be problem child early in his life, college life was not meant to be in the cards for him. With childhood hopes of one day becoming a Division 1 athlete, Brandon would come to find his true life's purpose later in life and learn how to take his life into his own hands; flipping the script, he sought to help others recognize their own purpose and provide them with a voice while at the same time inspiring and motivating them to go after their true aspirations. Now a third-year psychology undergrad and a new member of DSAC, Brandon hopes to use his platform and life experiences to continue along his life's journey, providing resources to those in need, as he had once been, and serving the community he grew up in and continues to call home.

She is passionate about helping students in the College of Liberal Arts find their place at UNLV. After graduation she plans on pursuing law school.

Ryan is a first-generation Freshman currently pursuing a double baccalaureate in History and Political Science with the Liberal Arts College and the Honors College, with intentions to go to law school and pursue a career in the legal field. It was in high school that he began his interest and exposure to the legal field when he sought the opportunity to apply, in a real-world setting, legal concepts taught in the magnet law program offered at Canyon Springs High School and the Leadership and Law Preparatory Academy (LLPA) in North Las Vegas. It was also in high school that he had a passion for community service and advocacy efforts, in addition to continuing to be a source of reliable information that I came across to share with my many colleagues. Since High School, he has been interested in exploring various opportunities in the local legal community and academia. Ryan continues to be exposed to the legal community by entering as a second-year mentee with the Boyd Law Schools’ La Voz Huellas 4-tier Mentorship Program as he took part in several networking occasions, as well as soon-to-be member with the Phi Alpha Delta (PAD) International Law fraternity. He is currently involved in several extracurriculars at UNLV that would nurture my motivation to be engaged with community partners and students. For the 2023-2024 school year, Ryan is a member of the FYE’s First-Year Experience Roundtable and the SLL’s Navigators Mentorship Program. He is also a Mentor at my high school with the TRIO Educational Talent Search (ETS) pre-college program associated with the Center of Academic Enrichment & Outreach Office (CAEO). As a mentor, Ryan assist high school students with disadvantaged backgrounds to help them reach their plans for post-secondary education and career goals and share my transition experience to college. This includes guidance in FAFSA and college applications, assisting and organizing college tours, and providing relevant resources and sources of information that help nurture a pathway for the student. Lastly, he am currently volunteering with the Rebel Event Board (REB) to set up their school year events.

For a few years now Philosophy has been Jeshua's passion. Interested especially in metaphysics, meta-ethics, and political philosophy, they believe that philosophy is necessary for us to adequately think the social problems of our day, rather than merely thinking about them within a given framework, but producing new concepts which consider them as they unfold. Beyond this, they strongly affirm that education and the communication of information are especially conducive to social good and that serious interaction with philosophy has the deepest educational value. Given this, they seek to generate interest in philosophy as a major, minor, or passion within the student body. So far, Jeshua has gotten the privilege of being this year's co-president of the Neon Stoa Philosophy club, which they assist in organizing and advertising. They are grateful for any and all further opportunities they have to bring philosophy outside of the classroom into the real world, or by interaction with and application to other disciplines and fields.

Edward Delgado-Ochoa is a first-generation Honors College student pursuing a double major in Political Science and History with a minor in the Brookings Public Policy minor. Due to Edward’s personal experiences, he aspires to become an attorney to aid the Latino community with crossing the cultural and societal barriers of representation. During a summer internship with the City of North Las Vegas, Edward was able to shadow and meet deputy attorneys, justices, and state senators which furthered his interest in the justice and political systems. Edward is a determined individual, setting goals and priorities on his planner and getting them done in due time. He also values human connection as it cultivates friendships and new perspectives on life. Edward is a Legal Aid of Southern Nevada intern and a member of the Engelstad, Cohen, and Project 150 Scholars Program; and a board member of the UNLV Car Club.

Jasmine is a first-generation college student pursuing a degree in Sociology. She chose to major in Sociology because she has always been interested in inequalities, power dynamics and the social issues we see in our society. Jasmine plans to attend grad school for either sociology or law after finishing her undergraduate degree. Outside of DSAC, Jasmine is a board member for the Sociology Society, a member for the Student Organization of Latinx, and she works at Bath and Body Works.

As a first gen college student, Stephanie understood the pressure that some students are under and she wants to help be a guiding light in the transition from high school to college. As an English major, she believes everyone has an amazing storyline that they are writing with their own character growth. Postgrad, Stephanie hopes to be an editor so she can help other creators bring their stories to life for the world to enjoy. She also plays euphonium for various UNLV Bands and is an RA for UNLV Housing and Residential Life. She currently serves as the Blog Manager for Beyond Thought Creative Arts Journal and is the Student Engagement Programming Assistant for the College of Liberal Arts.

Makayla is pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in efforts to gain a deeper insight into human behavior and development. She intends to utilize this knowledge in her career path. At an early age, Makayla aspired to become a lawyer turned judge. Upon graduation, she plans to attend Boyd School of Law. Makayla currently serves as the Social Media Coordinator for UNLV’s Residence Hall Association; as well as a member of UNLV’s Minority Serving Institution Student Council. She is a member of Huellas Mentorship Program for Law, a program that creates a pipeline to the legal profession for underrepresented students, Black Student Organization, Student Organization of LatinX, Psychology Club and works part-time as a camp counselor and instructor for City of Las Vegas’s Parks and Recreation Department.

Sophie is a proactive member of the UNLV community and beyond. She is the founder and President of UNLV’s Feminist Club, and works extensively with several activist organizations around Las Vegas. She is studying feminist history and is pursuing feminist research. She hopes to be able to publish some of her work soon. She dreams of uniting her community and creating lasting change in this city and the rest of the world.

Shayla is a pre-medical anthropology major with an immense passion for the sciences and medicine. She chose to be an anthropology major because it is an umbrella for gravitating subjects such as paleontology, archaeology, forensic science, and much more. At a young age, she found herself intrigued with the world’s history and culture, and how it affected society and individuals. She is a first generation Mexican-American college student and she aspires to become the first physician in her family history. Shayla's dream is to serve her patients and their healthcare long term while building a deep relationship, especially to the Latino community. It is important to her to give back to the Latino community in Las Vegas, specifically to the individuals that face worries visiting a physician due to immigration status and/or a language barrier. Shayla is also the Co-Vice President of Rebel Reads YA, and the Educational Outreach Chair of Latino Pre-Medical Student Association. During her free time, she volunteers as a translator at mobile free health clinics targeted towards Latino individuals who are undocumented and/or don’t have health insurance.
