Overview
Employment-based permanent residency ("green card") sponsorship is at the discretion of the employer. UNLV is not obligated to sponsor U.S. permanent residency for its international employees.
Hiring Process
The first step in this process is for the hiring unit to complete a "Preliminary Information Form for Employment-Based Permanent Residency" and to obtain the indicated approval signatures.
Once the form is completed and submitted to International Student and Scholar Services, we will coordinate a meeting between the hiring department, the employee, and approved legal counsel to discuss sponsorship details.
Hiring units interested in this sponsorship are strongly encouraged to contact International Student and Scholar Services with questions.
It should be noted that if more than 18 months from the date of initial job offer will have elapsed by the time the employee will be sponsored for permanent residency then a "labor market test" for the position may be required. Contact International Student and Scholar Services for details.
