Accreditation

The Student Health Center (SHC) Laboratory is a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certified moderate complexity laboratory and licensed by the State of Nevada.

The laboratory has been accredited since 1996 by the Commission Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA), a national healthcare accreditation organization. Accreditation is given only to laboratories that apply rigid standards of quality in daily operations, demonstrate continued accuracy in the performance of proficiency testing, and pass a rigorous on-site accreditation survey, which is performed every two years.

In addition, the UNLV SHC Laboratory has been the proud recipient of the COLA Laboratory Excellence Awards for six consecutive accreditation surveys. Award recipients are selected from among the COLA laboratories found to be compliant with all required criteria and have demonstrated successful proficiency testing.
