The Global Health program, offered by the UNLV School of Public Health, proudly stands at the forefront of the university’s commitment to addressing health disparities on a global scale. Our focus is particularly on middle and low-income countries.
Our mission is to drive positive change by advancing health equity and fostering impactful research initiatives that transcend borders. The Global Health program operates at the intersection of academic excellence, cultural sensitivity, and collaborative innovation, aiming to bridge gaps in health equity and disproportionate outcomes around the world.

Our Impact and Work Around the Globe
UNLV faculty have had the opportunity to conduct global health research in the following ten countries:
- Brazil
- Benin
- Cameroon
- Côte d’Ivoire
- Ghana
- Ethiopia
- Tanzania
- South Korea
- Taiwan
- China
From studying the spread of disease both human-to-human and insect-to-human, to understanding child and maternal health across the world, the research areas are broad, just as public health as a whole reaches many subject areas.
Get Involved
Student Participation
Though global health research is not new to the UNLV School of Public Health, offering opportunities for students to get involved is.Tentatively scheduled to begin in spring 2025, we will offer Global Health classes that will give students a chance to learn through research in a variety of locations across the globe.
Locations for student global health opportunities will include: Chile, Ghana, Guatemala and, Philippines.
