The goals of the Milestone Experience are to orient students to the expected learning outcomes of their major field(s) and to reinforce the UULOs.

Each major/degree program must have an identified milestone experience, which can be in the form of:

  • one or more subject-relevant course(s), and/or
  • one or more subject-relevant study abroad program(s), and/or
  • one or more subject-relevant project(s)/assignment(s)

The inclusion of high-impact practices in each milestone experience is encouraged. All milestone experiences must especially reinforce the (i) Inquiry and Critical Thinking and (ii) Communication UULOs within the context of the major/degree program.

Students must successfully complete the milestone experience prior to a culminating experience, preferably in the sophomore or junior year.
