The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost has broad responsibility for the educational mission of UNLV. The office serves as the coordinating body for academic, faculty, and student affairs at the university and carries out strategic initiatives to advance the academic enterprise.

This involves working with the President, administrators, faculty, staff, students, and external partners to promote academic excellence throughout the institution, educate and empower a diverse student body, advance innovative scholarly and creative endeavors, cultivate the intellectual life of the campus, and fulfill the university’s obligations as a community-engaged public research institution.

Mission

The primary aim of the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost is facilitation and enrichment of the academic experience at UNLV. We seek to provide leadership and resources to support excellence and innovation in teaching, research, and engagement.

Vision

The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost will play a key role in fulfilling UNLV’s aspiration to become a top tier public research university that serves as a model for access, inclusion, and opportunity. We are guided by the understanding that our success as an institution shall be judged by the success of those whose lives we touch.

Organization and Reporting Units

The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost is central to UNLV’s complex academic organization. As the chief academic officer of the university, the Executive Vice President and Provost provides oversight for all academic and supporting administrative units listed below.

The university is home to 18 colleges, schools, and other units led by a dean: 12 colleges and schools that award undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates; three professional schools in the areas of dental medicine, law, and medicine; an honors college that offers advanced learning experiences; an academic library spread across multiple (including discipline-specific) branches; and a center for academic success that provides supplemental instruction and coaching along with services for students with undeclared majors.

Alongside UNLV’s academic units are nine administrative ones led by a vice president or vice provost. Collectively, these units offer a robust set of services and resources designed to advance the university’s academic mission and enhance the academic experience of all students, faculty, and staff.
