During UNLV’s spring commencement ceremonies May 11, I was excited to celebrate with the 3,700 graduates, many of whom are the first in their families to earn a bachelor’s degree. Commencement is the absolute best part of my job, and a truly unique and uplifting experience at UNLV. It’s a chance to highlight the enormous success of our students, with their families, friends and the entire Rebel community.

Roughly 5,000 acres of federal land in the North Las Vegas Valley is a ‘blank canvas’ for future development, UNLV’s president said. UNLV and the city of North Las Vegas are in discussions on how to develop the land located north of the Veterans Affairs Hospital in North Las Vegas in a cohesive way after the entities take control of the property in the coming months, officials said. The property is currently controlled by the Bureau of Land Management.
