Accomplishments: School of Nursing

Jennifer Vanderlaan (Nursing), Jay Shen (Public Health), and Tricia Gatlin (Nursing) published a new article, "Outcomes of Childbirth Education in PRAMS, Phase 8" in the Maternal and Child Health Journal. The research explores childbirth education and better outcomes for maternal child health throughout the United States.  
Angela Amar (Nursing) was re-elected to a second term for the American Academy of Nursing Board of Directors.
June Cho (Nursing) recently published the paper titled, "Sociodemographic and Biological Factors of Health Disparities of Mothers and Their Very Low Birth-Weight Infants," with Lung-Chang Chien (Environmental and Occupational Health) in Advances in Neonatal Care, 22(5), pp. E169-181. 
Jennifer Kawi (Nursing) was elected to the board of directors for the American Society for Pain Management Nursing (ASPMN). Kawi previously served as chair of the ASPMN Education Committee.
Jacqueline Killian (Nursing) recently presented a poster at the Military Health System Research Symposium. The topic was, "Improving Resiliency in U.S. Air Force Healthcare Personnel."
Angela Amar (Nursing) was recognized for community leadership at the 2022 Asian American Group Community Awards Gala.
Jennifer Vanderlaan (Nursing) was published as a co-author for a new study titled, "Midwifery Autonomy and Employment Changes During the Early COVID-19 Pandemic." The article was published in the Journal of Midwifery and Women's Health.
Dieu-My Tran (Nursing) was named president of the board of directors for the Las Vegas' chapter of the American Heart Association.
Lorraine Evangelista (Nursing) has recently been elected to serve on the Administrative Faculty Committee. 
Meghan Liebzeit (Nursing) was named a 2022-2023 National League for Nursing Jonas Scholar. This recognition awards direct funding for a scholar's final year of doctoral study to help complete their dissertation projects, along with support travel expenses to attend conferences.  Liebzeit is enrolled in the UNLV School of Nursing's â€¦
UNLV Student Nurses Association (SNA) was named a finalist in the 2022 Governor's Point of Light Awards. The campaign annually recognizes individuals and organizations for their excellence in volunteerism throughout Nevada. UNLV alumna Meg Moorman will be inducted into the National League for Nursing's Academy of Nurse Educators (ANEF). Meg graduated with her Ph.D. in Nursing from UNLV in 2013. She is currently the director of the Faculty Innovating for Nursing Education Center and coordinator of the MSN in Nursing Education at Indiana University School of Nursing.
