Since its illumination on July 4, 2023, the Las Vegas Sphere has become a prominent platform for various promotions, ranging from entertainment events like 'Trolls Band Together' and 'The Marvels' to major spectacles such as the Super Bowl and U2's recent residency at the venue. At the turn of the 20th century the prime state to register businesses in America was New Jersey, home to America’s biggest trusts such as Standard Oil. Other states, including its diminutive next-door neighbour, coveted the spigot of easy money that came from business incorporation. “Little Delaware, gangrened with envy at the spectacle of the truck-patchers, clam-diggers and mosquito-wafters of New Jersey getting all the money in the country into her coffers, is determined to get her little tiny, sweet, round, baby hand into the grab-bag of sweet things,” the American Law Review, a journal, wrote at the time.
In this contemporary age of commercial aviation, it's easy to forget just how amazing it is that we can fly around the globe with ease. And that's why it's so important to visit aviation museums across the country. All 50 states, plus Washington, D.C., have at least one institution dedicated to flying, whether that's a major air and space museum, an aviation hall of fame, or an exhibit about various flight-adjacent topics, like famous aviators or iconic airlines.
A new study published by researchers from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) this week has found that using tap water to perform a nasal rinse increases the risk of contracting a rare but serious set of infections. In particular, the CDC reports that a type of amoeba known as acanthamoeba, can cause a range of symptoms and has a fatality rate of 82%. This infection is rare and is thought to only involve 3-12 people in the US each year.
“Sphere is more than a venue,” said Jim Dolan, executive chairman and CEO of Sphere Entertainment and MSG Entertainment. Since the bright, titanic-sized ball in landed in the middle of Las Vegas last summer, the graphics emblazoned on its exterior and the stunts that followed have captured the public’s attention. Its cool eye-catching visual designs have been impactful seeing its LED pucks transform night after night. Following commissions from Refik Anadol, now the Sphere is extending the design invitation to the youngest of artists with its Sphere XO Student Design Challenge.
A unique new design challenge from the creative team that manages the popular Sphere attraction in Las Vegas is giving select members of the local community the chance to have their artworks displayed on its massive 160,000-square-foot LED exterior.
For decades, movies have been made about Las Vegas, or they’ve used Las Vegas as something of a main character. Casino, Leaving Las Vegas, The Hangover, Swingers …and the list goes on. When those movies are made, crews often spend a few days here but do most of the filming and editing in California studios. For years, there’s been a push to change that, to get more of that production work in Nevada. Jobs in film production pay relatively higher wage and they don’t all require a four-year degree.
Las Vegas community members will have the opportunity to see their artwork displayed on the Exosphere — the viral outer shell of the Sphere that has gained worldwide attention over the last year for its repertoire of designs, including advertisements for movies, grinning emojis, giant basketballs and more.
