Beam Hall will once again be open for classes starting the new semester. In the release posted online Tuesday morning, Whitfield states that university leadership continues its efforts to enhance the safety and security of Beam Hall as they anticipate hosting classes in the building during the fall 2024 semester.

UNLV President Keith Whitfield said Tuesday that Beam Hall could reopen to students as early as the fall semester. In December the building was the site of an attack by a gunman who killed three professors before dying in a shootout with university police, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

The board also renewed the four-year contract for UNLV President Keith Whitfield. During his time as president, graduation rates have increased and Whitfield has focused on removing unnecessary roadblocks in student services, optimizing financial aid, and enhancing the enrollment process.
