UNLV announced Friday that it will become a smoke-free campus on Aug. 15.

UNLV will go smoke-free on Aug. 12, in doing so joining about 2,000 universities across the country.

UNLV is becoming a tobacco-free institution starting Aug. 15, the university announced in a press release on Friday.

If approved, the change would ban smoking — including the use of electronic cigarettes — and tobacco products such as chewing tobacco in all university spaces, both indoors and outdoors. It would apply to students, employees, contractors and vendors, and visitors.
