The UNLV Health Maternal Child Wellness Program is made possible through a Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Part D Grant for the purpose of providing family-centered care in an outpatient setting to low-income women, infants, children, and youth exposed, infected, or affected by HIV.
As a part of UNLV Health and the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV, we are able to create a medical home for our patients, providing a “one-stop-shop” where our patients and their families can access both primary and specialty care. Our pediatric infectious diseases practitioners and community health workers ensure wrap-around services are available by collaborating with both pediatric and adult primary and specialty care physicians, within UNLV Health and the community.
Our mission is to…
- Eliminate mother-to-child HIV transmission
- Provide support and education to women of childbearing age who are HIV-positive and are, or planning to become, pregnant, to ensure that they have a safe delivery and a healthy baby
- Provide individualized HIV care to all patients from birth to age 24 years old
- Assist young adults in transitioning from pediatric to adult HIV services
- Ensure that all of our patients achieve and maintain an undetectable viral load
- Provide HIV/AIDS education and outreach in our community
Collaboration with the Southern Nevada Health District and other Ryan White practitioners within the (Las Vegas TGA) provides additional support to our patients and their families in the form of inpatient and outpatient medical case management, Ryan White eligibility, insurance assistance, labs, co-pays, housing, and transportation, to name a few. The Las Vegas TGA Ryan White service area covers Clark and Nye counties in Nevada and Mohave county in Arizona.
