Welcome to the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV — the first allopathic medical school in the Las Vegas Valley offering an educational program that includes clinical training experiences and community service throughout all four years of the curriculum. The national accrediting body, Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), cited the Kerkorian School of Medicine as creating a thoughtful and innovative curriculum that is well integrated with the school’s mission.

Announcements for Admissions
The following exceptions and considerations are taken into consideration regarding requirements to the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV application process due to past events and global circumstances. When developments or changes occur, we will continue to update this website with information for applicants. Additional important reminders are also posted here.
All applicants who submitted an AMCAS application into the open cycle for UNLV must take the MCAT no later than October 1 to maintain eligibility in that cycle. This includes any retakes intended for the cycle in order to meet the minimum score of 499. There are no exceptions for late testing or scores that do not meet the minimum.

The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine now accepts any instruction delivery format for our required prerequisites for application. This means the course can be taken in-person, hybrid, or online. Courses must still be from a U.S. college or university that is regionally accredited and need to be less than 10 years old at the time of application.
Consideration for prerequisite courses that were graded as pass/fail or satisfactory/unsatisfactory due to COVID-19 may be accepted from the following semesters without prejudice: Winter 2020, Spring 2020, Summer 2020, Fall 2020, Winter 2021, Spring 2021, Summer 2021, Fall 2021.
Consideration for prerequisite courses that were graded as pass/fail or satisfactory/unsatisfactory due to the December 2024 shooting at the ҳ| 鶹ýӳ may be accepted without prejudice for the Fall 2024 semester. If you are applying from a school that had a similar tragedy that also resulted in a pass/fail grade on a prerequisite instead of a letter grade, please email the office of admissions at the time of your application.

You may submit an AMCAS application to the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV if you have an anticipated MCAT test date that is occurring by October 1. We will wait for your score to come in.
Similarly, you can also submit if you have letters of recommendation pending. Again, we will wait for those to arrive, however at least three qualifying letters must be in by October 1.
UNLV is no longer participating in the Early Decision Program. Applicants who have a strong interest in UNLV should simply apply early in the cycle.

All interactions with the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine, from inquiry to enrollment, should demonstrate communications and behaviors that align with the Nevada System of Higher Education and the ҳ| 鶹ýӳ codes of conduct. Individuals with reported or discovered concerns by the school or actions that fall below expectations and courtesies may lose the privilege of engaging with the school, attending pre-applicant/applicant events, and submitting an application.
Alternate List
The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Admissions Committee wraps up its season each year by building an alternate list of 70-100 applicants who interviewed during the admissions season. The alternate list is ranked by the admissions committee, however individual rankings are not shared with applicants. As seats open in the cohort, the office of admissions will contact alternate list members to offer them admission.
