UNLV Health-Mojave Counseling, along with the State of Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health, began the development of the UNLV Health-Mojave Counseling First Episode Psychosis (FEP) Program in January 2020. The FEP program was modeled after the successful, evidence-based and is a comprehensive program providing early and effective treatment to individuals who have experienced a first episode of psychosis. The FEP program began providing services through UNLV Health-Mojave Counseling in May 2020.
Services Provided by the First Episode Psychosis Team
The program is designed to assist individuals and their family members in navigating through a first episode of psychosis by providing education on psychosis and resiliency/coping skills and assisting individuals with stabilizing their psychotic symptoms. The program also focuses on supporting individuals with maintaining interpersonal relationships, achieving their educational and employment aspirations, and improving their quality of life.
The FEP program utilizes a multi-dimensional treatment approach that includes pharmacologic management/psychiatric medication services, family education services, individual resiliency training (IRT) therapy services, supported employment and education (SEE) services, case management services, and primary care collaboration.
