The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Down Syndrome Program was established to meet the healthcare needs of members of our community with Down syndrome, the most common identifiable cause of intellectual disability. People with intellectual disabilities experience greater obstacles in attaining their full health potential. They receive lower rates of preventative health care services like blood pressure checks, cholesterol tests, and diabetes screenings despite being at higher risk for chronic medical conditions.
Our program encompasses a research collaboration with the UNLV Department of Physical Therapy.
Mission
We promote the health and well-being of people with Down syndrome and their families through evidence-based care, innovative research opportunities, and collaborative educational experiences.
