Academic Faculty
Academic faculty are employees who teach and conduct research at the university. This includes library faculty and positions in the areas of instruction and research.
Adjunct, visiting, and part-time positions are not filled through the UNLV employment office. For adjunct, visiting, and part-time positions, visit the department with which you are seeking employment.
Administrative Faculty (Professional Staff)
Administrative Faculty hold nonteaching positions at the university. Typical jobs include:

- Athletic coaches
- Information technology professionals
- Post-doctoral scholars
Classified Positions
As defined in the state of Nevada administrative code, classified employees are typically hourly employees who work 40-hour weekly schedules to support university departments.
Typical jobs include:
- Administrative assistants
- Child care workers
- Dental assistants
- Police officers
- Custodial/grounds maintenance workers
