Goals
- Foster an environment of continuous improvement and inclusion
- Implement a process through which those who offer training and professional development can engage in coordinated, collaborative efforts based on areas of expertise
- Avoid duplication of opportunities
- Establish guidelines for those who offer training and professional development workshops/sessions
- Align professional development offerings with the following pillars:
- Leadership development (e.g., Leadership Experience, President’s Fellows Program)
- Foundational training sessions (e.g., Management Training Academy [MTA])
- Compliance (e.g., Preventing Harassment and Discrimination, Cybersecurity)
- Develop a common vocabulary that is unified, inclusive, and appropriate based on the audience
- Series/curriculum: A group or bundle of courses that is arranged around a specific topic
- Program: An organized set of courses or activities arranged around a specific topic and competencies, with measurable outcomes or results
- Workshop: A type of course that is usually shorter in timeframe in which participants engage in intensive discussion and activity on a particular subject or topic
- Session/class: The actual offering with date, time, location and/or url to access the training
- Course: The learning subject and/or topic that can be delivered in a variety forms. Most courses will have goals or learning outcomes identified
- Create and maintain an active Community of Practice (CoP) that:
- Connects campus PD stakeholders with each other
- Shares PD opportunities and other resources
- Improve efficiencies
Requirements of a PD/Training Opportunity
- Identify and keep the audience in mind
- Be flexible with structure, organization, and content while keeping this framework in mind
- Identify:
- The opportunity as:
- Single, one-time session
- Series (e.g., HR PD in which topics change, evaluation of series)
- Program (e.g., MTA program, has objectives, evaluation of program)
- How the training aligns with Top Tier 2.0
- Optional and highly recommended for single sessions and series
- Required for programs
- Two - three learning objectives
- Prerequisites for class (skills, other courses, competencies, etc.), if required
- Trainer bio(s)
- Course/class description(s)
- The opportunity as:
- Evaluate the PD/training opportunity through post-session surveys
- Delivery method (e.g., virtual or in person)
- Share a registration link with time and location or link to join virtually
- Share course materials in advance or during the session
- Include interactive and engaging elements, when time and design permit
- Use blended learning (e.g., videos, reading, lecture, etc.) to deliver the sessions
- Technical requirements
- Host in REBELearn or Webcampus
- Videos must be in packages when hosted in REBELearn
- Ensure accessibility
