If you are experiencing difficulties with your health coverage, assistance is available through the (GovCHA). Their staff, led by the Governor's Consumer Health Advocate and consisting of expert Ombudsmen and other health care professionals, are available to you free of charge.

GovCHA's Staff Can

  • Assist consumers with researching and resolving concerns with health plans, including appeals, grievances, external review requests, eligibility, billing, benefits, or claim denials;
  • Assist you to understand your rights and responsibilities in regards to your health insurance plans;
  • Provide resources to Nevadans seeking access to healthcare, insurance coverage, and prescription drug assistance;
  • Help you understand your rights and responsibilities under Nevada workers' compensation law;
  • Guide Nevadans through the changes of the Affordable Care Act of 2010, including enrollment in the Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP), and enrolling adult children up to age 26 into the parent's current insurance plan.
  • Provide assistance with access to health care resources, hospitals and other medical bills, prescription resources, small business employer health care resource information, minority health advocacy, and related issues.

They do not provide financial assistance. However, they will assist you in locating payer sources (if available), negotiating discounts or setting up payment arrangements.
