MSI Week

The annual Minority-Serving Institution (MSI) Week was established in 2021 as an initiative of the Minority-Serving Institution Student Council (MSISC). MSI Week serves as an opportunity to host a week-long series of campuswide activities and events focused on elevating the voices of historically underrepresented and marginalized ethnic student groups, faculty, and staff. All events are open to the entire campus community.

MSI Week Impact and Purpose

  • Celebrate and honor UNLV’s dual designation as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI).
  • Enriche students' experiences by using culturally relevant practices to connect UNLV's cultural diversity and foster community.
  • Implement servingness to promote a sense of belonging among historically underrepresented minority groups (students, faculty, staff, and the community) by ensuring they feel heard, seen, and valued.
  • Provide a safe educational environment for learning about and embracing cultural differences, both inside and outside the classroom, while supporting student success.
