Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual students, faculty, and staff add rich experiences and perspectives to the UNLV community. UNLV is committed to affirming and supporting LGBTQIA people.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual (LGBTQIA) students, faculty, and staff may face challenges navigating higher education. UNLV provides programs, services, and resources to support LGBTQIA communities.

Resources

  • Student Diversity & Social Justice – the office of Student Diversity & Social Justice (SDSJ) was created out of student demand for identity specific support. As such, several identity-based positions were created to serve UNLV’s traditionally underserved students through programs, initiatives, and services.
  • Q-UNLV - UNLV is home to several groups that represent the shared interests, backgrounds, and goals of our diverse faculty and staff. Q:UNLV is an alliance of faculty and staff dedicated to fostering a climate of support and service for the LGBTQIA+ community at UNLV. For more details about Q-UNLV, reach out to the person listed under the corresponding group on the Faculty and Staff Affinity Group page.
  • - UNLV Spectrum is an undergraduate student organization dedicated to the queer/LGBTQ community and its allies.
  • Stonewall Suites - a LGBTQ thematic on-campus community.
  • - LGBTQ+ and Allied Medical Professionals provide professional and personal support to LGBTQ+ students, faculty and staff by fostering an inclusive culture, creating a strong support system for LGBTQ+ individuals within our programs, as well as connecting mentors with students.
  • - legal services for sex/gender diverse persons like name and sex/gender markers assistance.
  • Jean Nidetch CARE Center - provides free and confidential support services to members of the UNLV community who have been impacted by sexual assault, relationship abuse, family violence, and/or stalking
  • - a community-based organization that supports and promotes activities directed at furthering the well-being, positive image, and human rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, asexual, two-spirit, and queer community.
  • Student Health Center, Faculty, Staff Treatment Center and Student Counseling and Psychological Services
    • Gender neutral bathrooms.
    • A more comprehensive medical history form which is more inclusive of all gender/sexual orientations.
    • LGBTQ+ inclusive healthcare addressing the needs of the community such as preventative screenings (routine labs, vaginal/anal paps, immunizations including Hepatitis A/B, Gardasil for HPV).
    • PrEP/PEP services.
    • Gender affirming hormone therapy and letter writing in support of gender affirming surgical procedures.
    • Trans Care Team, a multidisciplinary team that meets monthly to discuss best practices in the healthcare needs of our trans clients/patients.
    • Provides ongoing education to providers and staff of Student Wellness.
