Students enrolled in CRJ 104 must complete a research requirement. The requirement may be fulfilled through participation in research studies, which we strongly encourage, the writing of research papers, or a combination of the two.
Participation in research studies:
- Helps you become acquainted with research techniques used to study criminal justice topics discussed in your courses.
- Allows you to gain a better understanding of the theories used to study criminological and justice-related issues.
- Provides both faculty and student researchers with useful information that may be presented at professional meetings or published in journals and books. With a greater understanding of issues, more effective means of law enforcement, prosecution, trial procedures, punishment, and rehabilitation can be developed.
- Allows professors to train both graduate and undergraduate students to conduct research studies, which is beneficial to both graduate students completing their master's theses and undergraduates who want to attend graduate school.
