Welcome to the Center for Crime and Justice Policy (CCJP), located within the Department of Criminal Justice at UNLV. CCJP’s primary mission is to use applied research to help inform criminal justice practice. The center works closely in collaboration with community groups, social service organizations, and criminal justice professionals. The center is designed to capitalize on the expertise of UNLV faculty who specialize in all areas of scientific inquiry and policy development, particularly in the field of criminal justice.
CCJP was initially established in 2003 as the Center for the Analysis of Crime Statistics. The center was renamed in 2014 to better reflect its current objectives of helping advance public policy, improving professional practices, and educating students in research methodologies. Projects associated with CCJP have covered a wide range of criminal justice topics, including police tactics and technologies, school violence, community crime prevention, community corrections, and prisoner re-entry.
