Kate Zhong, MD, MSc, FRCP(C)
Kate Zhong, MD, MSc, FRCP(C) is a geriatric psychiatrist, pharmacologist, Alzheimer’s clinical researcher and brain health advocate. She is an adjunct professor at the UNLV Department of Brain Health within the School of Integrated Health Sciences. She is the host and moderator of this lunchtime forum.
Jefferson Kinney, PhD
Jefferson Kinney, PhD is the founding chair of the department of brain health in the School of Integrated Health Sciences, director of the Translational Biomarker Discovery Laboratory, and the first endowed chair of Chambers-Grundy Center for Transformative Neuroscience. His research focuses on mechanisms underlying Alzheimer’s Disease.
Jeffrey L. Cummings, MD, ScD
Jeffrey L. Cummings, MD, ScD, is a Neurologist and Director of the Chambers-Grundy Center for Transformative Neuroscience at UNLV. He is a leading expert on Alzheimer’s disease and on the development of new therapies for brain disorders.
Samantha E. John, PhD
Samantha E. John, PhD is a neuropsychologist and Director of the Cognitive Aging and Neuropsychological Equity (CANE) Lab. She studies health disparities in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias to improve diagnosis and disease monitoring across diverse groups.
Rob Levrant, PhD
Rob Levrant, PhD, is an Educational Psychologist and the Director of Strategic Initiatives and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in the Division of Educational Outreach. His research focuses on adult learning, mentoring, and epistemic cognition.

The School of Integrated Health Sciences at UNLV houses the departments of Brain Health, Physical Therapy, Health Physics and Diagnostic Sciences, and Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences. Our primary mission is to provide quality education and service learning, conduct basic, translational and clinical research, integrate excellence in teaching, research and service to improve health care in the communities that we serve. Integrated health faculty and students positively impact and foster evolutionary changes in health sciences on local and national levels.
The Department of Brain Health Advances research, education, and practice to benefit brain health and the care and treatment of people with brain disorders across the lifespan. Our faculty specialize in several areas that range from basic and clinical research in neurodegenerative disease, neuropsychology, and Occupational therapy.
