Step into the vibrant world of LatinX Programs! At the helm is the dedicated Latinx Program Coordinator, committed to serving UNLV’s dynamic Latinx student community. Their role encompasses the creation of engaging programs, the facilitation of student workshops, and the provision of resources, all geared towards affirming, educating, and empowering students.
Notably, the Program Coordinator takes the lead in orchestrating university-wide events, including the much-anticipated Latinx Heritage Month and Latinx Activism Week events. Beyond these flagship initiatives, their responsibilities extend to vital roles such as supporting UNLV's LatinX students and organizations through active involvement in the LatinX History Month Planning Committee, Dia De Lxs Muertxs, Men of Color Initiatives, Cultural Leadership Retreat, and the LatinX Student Alliance.
Working seamlessly with a dynamic team, the Program Coordinator collaborates with two dedicated student LatinX Program Assistants, ensuring the smooth execution of programmatic responsibilities and fostering a vibrant LatinX community at UNLV. - #YoSoyUNLV Student Series
- Immerse yourself in the empowering #YoSoyUNLV Student Series, a collection of events designed to foster community building and networking while enriching individual Latinx identities. From student and staff mixers to workshops, recognition series, and even cooking tutorials, this series offers a diverse range of experiences. Past highlights include the “Latinx Library,” a mixer where students could study and socialize while enjoying the show “Rebelde,” “Dia de Apreciacion,” a community showcase, and "Nuestra casa es su Casa," a tutorial on making homemade Pupusas. Embrace these monthly events held throughout the Fall and Spring semesters.
- Latinx Heritage Month Events
- Join us in celebrating and promoting Latinx culture during the National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15). This period is marked by a series of events dedicated to honoring and sharing the richness of our Latinx heritage.
- Latinx Activism Week Events
- Engage in thought-provoking discussions during Latinx Activism Week. This week delves into various issues impacting the Latinx community, educating students and staff on social injustices while providing tools to address these challenges. Join us at the end of March each year for a week of impactful events.
- Latinx Graduation Celebracion #SiempreUNLV
- Cap off your semester with the Latinx Graduation Celebracion #SiempreUNLV, where we come together to honor ALL Latinx graduates for the spring and fall terms. Family and friends are warmly welcomed to witness our graduates take their first steps beyond college life into their professional careers.
