Yoon H. Kang

Biography
Associate professor in Residence Dr. Yoon H. Kang joined UNLV School of Dental Medicine, Clinical Sciences department, in fall of 2021 and teaches clinical skills within the predoctoral program. Previously at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Kang taught first-year operative dentistry, second-year fixed prosthodontics, BaSiCSsss seminar class, and postdoctoral prosthodontics biomaterials lecturer for the biomechanics section.
Dr. Kang’s research focuses on dental biomaterials specific to bonding materials and restorative materials. He has also been involved in interdisciplinary translational research projects focused on applying cutting edge basic science technology to chairside point-of-care clinical applications.
Dr. Kang earned his bachelor’s in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University, Ph. D. in biomedical engineering from University of Iowa, and doctor of dental medicine from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Kang was recognized as a top 10 finalist for the Joseph Lister New Investigator Award during the 2019 International Association for Dental Research conference in Washington DC. He served as a consultant to the American Dental Association/Council on Scientific Affairs from 2018 to 2021, and is a member of the International Association for Dental Research and the American Dental Association.
