Biography

William Sousa, Ph.D., is the director of the Center for Crime and Justice Policy and a Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at the Ê×Ò³| Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­. The focus of his research is on crime and disorder reduction policies implemented by police agencies, including the New York City Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department. His current projects involve police order-maintenance practices, policing technologies, and community crime prevention in Las Vegas neighborhoods. He is the author, with Kenneth J. Peak, of the book Policing America: Challenges and Best Practices. His recent publications appear in Police Quarterly, The Journal of Criminal Law & Criminology, and The Journal of Experimental Criminology. He received his B.A. from Stonehill College (Easton, MA), his M.S. from Northeastern University (Boston, MA), and his Ph.D. from Rutgers University (Newark, NJ).
