Steven Slivka
Director of Communications
Biography
Steven Slivka earned his bachelor of arts degree from UNLV’s Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies in 2013. As a student, Steven worked as the assistant sports editor for the university newspaper where he covered the men’s basketball and soccer teams.
After graduation, Steven worked as a breaking news reporter for the Las Vegas Review-Journal and as a general assignment reporter for the Boulder City Review where he interviewed several federal, state, and local officials, including the late U.S. Senator Harry Reid, former Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, and others.
After transitioning to a career in communications, Steven worked as a corporate communications specialist at Boyd Gaming Corp. Prior to returning to his alma mater, Steven spent more than six years in various communications roles at Touro University Nevada, including the last two as director of communications and public relations.
As the director of communications for UNLV’s School of Integrated Health Sciences, Steven writes the news stories taking place among the School’s four departments, works closely with internal and external partners to help promote the School, helps manage the School’s social media strategies and content, and maintains the School’s website.
