Michael Wong, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor-in-Residence
Biography
Michael W.H. Wong earned his B.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science in 2015 and his M.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology in 2017, both from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Under the mentorship of Edward Jo, Ph.D., Wong completed a thesis on performance adaptations during high-volume periodized resistance training, which laid the foundation for his focus on exercise physiology and applied performance testing.
Wong joined the Ê×Ò³| Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³», in 2018 as a Ph.D. student in the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences program. Under the mentorship of Dharini Bhammar, Ph.D., he completed a dissertation in 2022 investigating the comparative effects of high-intensity warm-up exercise and bronchodilators on exercise-induced bronchoconstriction in children with mild asthma.
Following the completion of his doctorate, Wong transitioned into a faculty role, becoming an Assistant Professor-in-Residence in 2024. He regularly teaches exercise physiology, anatomical kinesiology, and related laboratory-based courses, emphasizing hands-on learning and the use of cutting-edge technologies like cardiopulmonary stress testing systems and advanced wearable devices.
Wong’s research interests include exercise physiology, respiratory health, and performance testing. He continues to contribute to the field through collaborations with the local community and by mentoring students in research projects that bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application.
