Biography
Marisela Thompson teaches interior architecture and healthcare design courses in the UNLV School of Architecture. As one of the lead Interior Architecture participants in the Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon 2017 Competition she and her team developed creative, innovative, and viable design strategies and concepts to support the daily physical and cognitive functioning of active aging adults. Invited presentations of her evidence based design concepts at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, the International 2017 Environments for Aging Conference and the 2018 Environmental Design Research Association Conference continue to attract public and professional interest. Her recent honors and recognitions,among others, include the Fielden Medal for Design Excellence in Interior Architecture and Design, Fielden Medal for Contributions of Excellence to Architectural Education, Outstanding Fine Arts Graduate in Architecture and the ARCC King Student Medal for excellence in Architectural and Environmental Design Research from the Architectural Research Centers Consortium. Marisela is a passionate advocate of impactful practices of interior design that transform human lives by supporting wellness and health. She holds a bachelor of science professional degree in Interior architecture and design and a master of healthcare interior design from the Ê×Ò³| Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³».
