Layke Martin, Esq.
Biography
Layke Martin is an attorney and professor. She serves as the Executive Director of the Nevada Cannabis Association, where she coordinates legislative and policy agendas, educational programming, community outreach, and member services. An experienced teacher and administrator, Layke previously served as the Assistant Dean for External Relations at the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law, overseeing the law school's career development, alumni relations, communications, event, and development departments. She has taught courses including Introduction to Urban Leadership, Cannabis Policy, Problem Identification and Agendas, Business Law, Advanced Legal Writing, and a Legislative Externship seminar, and has presented at national conferences on topics related to workforce development, career advancement, and cannabis policy.
After graduating from UNLV, Layke attended law school at Boston University. She practiced business litigation for nearly five years with a Las Vegas law firm.
Layke recently served on the Board of Emerge Nevada, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the number of women in public office through recruiting, training, and providing a powerful network. She previously served on the Board of the National Association for Law Placement from 2015-2017 and was the 2015-2016 Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Nevada.
The State Bar awarded her Young Lawyer of the Year in 2015. She received Vegas Inc.'s "40 Under 40" Award in 2016.
Layke and her husband Zach live in Las Vegas with their three children, two dogs, and one turtle.
