Lead Peer Mentor, Warrior Queen Project and Women’s Empowerment Program
Biography
Lauren Cross serves as the lead peer mentor for the Warrior Queen Project and Women’s Empowerment Program from Spring 2023 - Fall 2024. She is a senior at UNLV studying psychology and minoring in family studies. She graduated from College of Southern Nevada in Spring 2022 where she obtained an Associate of Art degree in Psychology.
During Lauren’s time at UNLV she has been the lead peer mentor of the Warrior Queen Project and Women’s Empowerment Program that supports women identifying students to gain confidence, learn skills for life, and gives opportunities for networking. Each semester, Lauren plans and runs four events and mentors a 30 person cohort. The Women’s Empowerment Program has been running since Fall of 2022 and has had great success at UNLV.
After graduation, Lauren hopes to work in the hospitality field where she can continue to do event planning. Her big career goal is to work in the cruise industry. Lauren has been able to overcome great challenges with mental health and will always be an advocate for mental health. She became a mental health first aid in 2023 to further her dedication to supporting others in mental health crises. Lauren’s empathy skills have helped many people around her and she is looking forward to the future.
