Biography
Laura Patricia Contreras (she/her/hers) is a first-generation Latina college student pursuing her M.Ed. in Higher Education. She is also the graduate assistant for the HSI Resource Hub at UNLV. With an emphasis on student affairs and leadership, her research interests include race and ethnicity data segregation within Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) and the interconnecting social systems of oppression as it pertains to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ). Laura first earned her A.S. at the College of Southern Nevada before transferring to UNLV and earning her B.A. in English. Her experiences motivate her towards serving and guiding community college students through their transfer pathways and into a four-year college or university.
