Kevin McVay

Biography
Kevin McVay (he/him) is a two-time alumnus of UNLV, earning his B.A. in Journalism in 2014 and his M.Ed. in Higher Education in 2017. He currently serves as the Assistant Director for the College of Sciences Advising Center. Prior to working in academic advising, Kevin worked on campus as the Publicity & Program Logistics Coordinator for Student Involvement & Activities, formerly known as the Office of Student Engagement & Diversity.
As an undergraduate student, Kevin worked as a Resident Assistant, Intramural Program Assistant, and Office Assistant. Kevin also held leadership roles within CSUN Student Government, the Scarlet & Gray Free Press, and in various student organizations like the Rebel Events Board, Spectrum, and Dayton Complex Council. As a graduate student, Kevin was involved in the Higher Education Student Leadership Association and completed the GPSA mentorship certificate program.
Kevin is an experienced higher education professional with more than 10 years of experience in academic advising and student affairs. His research interests include understanding the unique needs of STEM college students, first-generation student success, multiracial identity development, and the impact of DEI and financial literacy programs on students' well-being and sense of belonging. Kevin is an avid lover of animals, and in his spare time, enjoys hiking, playing video games, eating sushi, attending musicals, and visiting theme parks and museums across the world.
