Biography
Kenneth Miller an assistant professor of Political Science at the Ê×Ò³| Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³». Before joining UNLV he was a postdoctoral research associate at the Princeton School of Public & International Affairs at Princeton University. Prior to that he was a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at the State University of New York at Geneseo. He received his doctoral degree in government from the University of Texas at Austin, his Masters in Applied Politics from the University of Akron, and his bachelor's degree in political science from Cleveland State University. Before starting an academic career Dr. Miller worked in polling and consumer market research, including work for U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (NV), Sen. Barbara Boxer (CA), Rep. John Barrow (GA 12), Rep. Shelley Berkley (NV 1), the American Beverage Association, the California Teachers Association, Calphalon Cookware, the Detroit Institute of Arts, Key Bank, Parker-Hannifin, Progressive Insurance, Rubbermaid, and others.
His research focuses on political parties and campaign finance in the United States. Specifically, he investigates how the sources of funds affect the content of campaign messages, the behavior of legislators, and the balance of power within party networks. He also conducts research on the downstream effects of political communication, studying how images used in campaign advertisements affect perception of candidates' positions, and how the presentation of news affects how individuals choose which stories to read. His work has appeared in The Journal of Politics, Legislative Studies Quarterly, Social Science Quarterly, Politics and Religion and The Forum.
