Kelly Webb
DJ name: Kelly J
Biography
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Kelly Webb (known as Kelly J) has loved music and the arts since a young age. However, it wasn't until she moved to Las Vegas, NV that she desired to pursue it as a career. Following through with earlier career decisions, Kelly J went to UNLV and majored in nursing right after graduating high school, but she also became an intern for 88.1 FM KCEP. "Working there reminded me of WJLB back home, it reminded me of why I loved radio so much,” she shared. “I always wanted to be a part of the movement that creates a positive atmosphere for people.”
At the age of 19, she obtained a position for XRadio.Biz, an online radio station, one of the first of its kind at the time, as an on-air personality and staff producer. After researching, interviewing, and becoming a fan of many independent artists; carrying previous DJ skills from 88.1 to a new format; and expanding her knowledge of the DJ culture, Kelly J went on to DJ and guest DJ in many nightclubs, festivals, venues, and various radio stations across the world. In December 2015, Kelly J became a Core DJ, holding the name and reputation of fellow Core DJs Big Tigger, Nick Cannon, and CEO Tony Neal.
In May 2021, Kelly J gained the new role as mixshow coordinator for UNLV's radio station, 91.5 FM. She also started teaching DJ workshops at UNLV at the end of the summer 2021. Today, Kelly J continues to push the DJ culture forward, whether it’s breaking new music, maintaining a consistent role in the community, or rocking crowds worldwide.
