Biography
Dr. Kate Zhong is a geriatric psychiatrist, pharmacologist, a trailblazer in Alzheimer’s and brain health research. She is the Director of Innovation at Chamber’s Grundy Center for Transformative Neuroscience, and an adjunct professor in the Department of Brain Health, School of Integrated Health Sciences, ҳ| 鶹ýӳ.
Dr. Kate served as the Chief Strategy Officer for the Global Alzheimer’s Platform Foundation. She was the Senior Director of Clinical Research for the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health where she led the research programs for Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and traumatic brain injury. She is the creator of Healthy Brains, an innovative platform to accelerate clinical trials and to empower the public to improve their brain health and reduce their risk for brain disorders. While working as the medical director for AstraZeneca, Dr. Kate led multiple global clinical trials in CNS therapeutic areas. Dr. Zhong has been a scientific consultant for multiple pharmaceutical and biotech companies in United States, Canada, and Asia.
She received her doctor of medicine degree from West China University of Medical Sciences in Sichuan, China. She earned her master’s degree in pharmacology and completed her residency in Psychiatry at University of Toronto. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Kate is a founding member of AARP Global Council on Brain Health, Women Against Alzheimer’s. She is on the Global Strategy Council for HomeInstead Senior Care and is the executive board member for International Psychogeriatric Association. She serves on multiple boards including Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada, Nevada Ballet Theater, Dress for Success Southern Nevada and Dignity Health Hospital. She is a member of International Women’s Forum and Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Women Executive Council.
She was named as “Woman to Watch” and “Alzheimer’s Ambassador “by Las Vegas Inc. She was honored with Las Vegas “Top Tech Exec Award” and “Healthcare Headliner Research Award” for her creation of Cleveland Clinic Health Brain Index (HBI). She received the “Social Innovation Award” from Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada,” “Community Achievement Award” from the Asia American Group, and “Women of Distinction Award” from the National Association of Women Business Owners in 2020. She received the “Minority Lifetime Achievement Award” from Women Chamber of Commerce Nevada and was honored as the “Top 100 Women” and “Top 100 Doctors” in Vegas in 2022. She was featured in the PBS documentary “MAKERS: Women Who Make America”, profiling her as one of Nevada’s most influential women.
