Biography
Bumsoo Park (Ph.D., University of Alabama) is an assistant professor specializing in strategic communication. Prior to his doctoral study, he received a master’s degree in sport management from Florida State University and a bachelor’s degree from Yonsei University in Korea.
The primary focus of Dr. Park’s research is to examine social and marketing aspects of sports, especially related to socio-political issues with an emphasis on media effects and marketing communication. His research interests also include emerging media effects in the context of health communication and sport consumer behavior focused on socio-psychological factors.
Dr. Park’s research has appeared in various journals including Communication & Sport, International Journal of Sport Communication, Journal of Global Sport Management, along with other media, communication, and sports books. He has presented his research at a number of international and national conferences, including the International Communication Association (ICA), the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), the International Association for Communication and Sport (IACS), the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM), and the Sport Marketing Association (SMA).
