Biography

Arthur D. Soto-Vásquez is Assistant Professor of Ethnic/Equity Studies at the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies at the Ê×Ò³| Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­. Arthur studies the relationship between Media, Politics, Health, and Latina/o/x Identity. He has also published a wide range of work on Instagram, influencers, Disney, consumer culture, migration, right wing movements online, misinformation, and podcasts.

His first book, Mobilizing the Latinx Vote, was published by Routledge in 2020 and he was a co-editor of Migrant World Making, published by Michigan State University Press in 2023. He is the recipient of two Top Paper Awards (1st and 2nd Place) and a Chapter of the Year Award from National Communication Association divisions. In 2024, he was co-awarded the Distinguished Scholar of the Year award by the College of Arts and Science at Texas A&M International University. Originally from El Paso, TX, Arthur earned a BA in Political Science from St. Edward’s University in 2012, a MA in Media Studies from the University of Texas in 2015, and a PhD in Communication from the American University in 2018.
