Biography
Arosha Meegoda is a first-year academic advisor originally from Sri Lanka but moved to Las Vegas with his family when he was seven years old. He received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Nevada Reno School of Business and his master’s at the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Health Sciences. Arosha’s interest in working with students first began while working as a substitute teacher for Clark County’s School District and has expanded from there. He enjoys discussing academic plans with students and thrives on supporting students during their higher education journey. He understands the importance of academic advising, especially now when more than ever, both the cost and value of a college education are being questioned. Being a first-generation college student, Arosha also understands the various obstacles and hurdles these specific students will face as they navigate their college careers. In response, Arosha has made a commitment to himself and the students he works with to being educated and active in discussions about the future of advising and the UNLV campus so that he can provide effective advising sessions that will help students transferring to UNLV be put on the path to receiving a high-quality experience out of their education. During his spare time, Arosha likes to spend time with his dog, teaching her new tricks, playing video games with his friends, or practice playing the guitar. He is ecstatic to begin his career as a transition advisor and is ready to help you make your transition over to UNLV as seamless as possible!
