She conducts applied research, evaluation, and develops/implements programs in two focus areas: the intersection of mental health and substance use with nutrition and health (especially gender-responsive health, nutrition, and body image programs for women in recovery and those justice-involved); and promoting physical activity and nutrition across the lifespan, especially nutrition, physical literacy, music/dance and programs that target early childhood obesity prevention and older adult health, exercise, and falls prevention.

In 2019, she received the UNLV College Alumna of the Year Award in the School of Integrated Health Sciences and currently serves as a member of the schools advisory board. She established the Dr. Larry Golding Exercise Physiology Endowed Fund in honor of her mentor; and she and her family established the Nathan J.
