Biography
Anne Marie Abruscato, LCSW, is a Visiting Lecturer with the UNLV School of Social Work. She holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Arizona State University, and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Iowa. Ms. Abruscato has taught at UNLV since 2011. She has also served as an Agency Field Instructor and a Faculty Field Liaison.
Ms. Abruscato teaches graduate courses in the areas of foundation practice, direct practice, and trauma. Her primary area of interest is in the field of trauma-informed care. She is trained in evidence-based interventions for trauma, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and Prolonged Exposure Therapy.
Ms. Abruscato has over 20 years of experience providing psychotherapy to adults, children and families. She serves as co-chair of the Quality Parenting Initiative Communications Workgroup at Clark County Department of Family Services. She provides presentations to public agencies on the topics of trauma, stress management, and wellness. She facilitates workshops for military service members through the American Red Cross. She also volunteers to provide wellness support to Red Cross Hero Care Center staff. Ms. Abruscato offers workshops at UNLV Continuing Education on topics related to trauma, clinical intervention, and mental health diagnosis.
