Research Interests
As a cognitive neuroscientist, Amanda Pasinski is interested in the neural correlates of sensation and perception as well as broader cognitive topics like music and language. Their early research used electroencephalography (EEG) to explore auditory perception abnormalities in individuals with schizophrenia, as well as the perception of musical rhythm in healthy individuals.
Their recent research has focused on music video games like Rock Band: do people who play music video games have similar musical perception skills as those who play traditional musical instruments? What (if any) benefits are conferred from music video game play? Are any of these skills transferable?
Dr. Pasinski has taught courses on General Psychology, Sensation and Perception, Physiological Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, the Psychology of Learning, and the Psychology of Aging.
