Biography
Baritone Saxophonist Adam Schroeder has established his influence as a major voice and force in the global jazz community; becoming the first call for a multitude of musical situations and known for his dedication and devotion to extensive educational outreach. His debut release, “A Handful of Stars,” (CAPRI 2010) reached #10 on the JazzWeek Radio Chart and was also recognized as one of the “Top 100 Releases for 2010.” “Let’s,” (CAPRI 2014), his second release as a leader, was recognized by the JazzWeek National Jazz Radio Chart as one of the “Top 100 Releases for 2014.”
As a Yamaha, D’Addario Reeds and a Capri recording artist, Adam was voted a “Rising Star” on the Baritone Saxophone in Down Beat Magazine’s 59th, 63rd, 64th, 65th, 66th and 67th Annual Critic’s Poll and further recognized in Down Beat Magazine’s 76th, 79th, 80th, 82nd and 84th Annual Reader’s Polls. Adam regularly leads his own quartet, performing with the group throughout the nation and serving as a guest artist and clinician for jazz camps and festivals around the globe. Performance highlights include contributions to many Grammy Award winning and nominated albums; performing in Lady Gaga’s “Jazz & Piano” shows; performing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Las Vegas Philharmonic, the Ray Charles Orchestra, Michael Bublé, John Beasley’s MONK’estra, the Bob Mintzer Big Band, the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, the Count Basie Orchestra and with Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band.
Schroeder can also be recognized for his network television appearances on NBC’s “The Voice,” “X-Factor,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show;” ABC’s “The Middle,” FOX’s “American Idol,” Disney’s “Elena of Avalor” and “Tangled,” Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful,” the 20th Annual Latin Grammy Awards; and in films including “Storks,” “The Good Dinosaur,” “Purl,” “Small Town Crime” and “Own The Room.” Schroeder continues to host the “Journey Through Jazz” concert series at the Las Vegas Clark County Library District, now in it's 3rd season, in conjunction with the Jazz Education Network, the Nevada School of the Arts and the Clark County School District. Slated appearances for 2020- 2021 include the Newport Beach Jazz Party, the Elmhurst Jazz Festival, the Newbury Park Jazz Festival, the Las Vegas Jazz Invitational at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts, the Nevada Music Educators Association, the Clark County School District High School Jazz Festival, MONK’estra at the University of California Davis, the Five Seasons Chamber Music Festival, The Hollywood Bowl, Lady Gaga’s “Jazz & Piano” shows, and the European Tour of the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra.
Holding a BM in jazz studies from Texas State University, San Marcos, and a MM in jazz studies from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music, California State University, Long Beach, Schroeder presently serves as an associate professor and professor of Jazz Studies at the ҳ| 鶹ýӳ.
