KLAS-TV: 8 News Now

Thousands of students have returned to campus at UNLV this week in preparation for classes that start on Monday. The fall semester will see record-breaking enrollment numbers for the university with 32,000 students expected to attend classes this fall. Around one-third of those students are new students coming to campus for the first time.

Nevada Current

For higher education, one of the biggest challenges leftover from the pandemic years is getting students to sign up. In recent years enrollment at many Nevada higher education institutions — like higher education institutions nationally — has plateaued compared to pre-pandemic levels. But at the Ê×Ò³| Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ the tide has finally turned.

Recent Registrar Accomplishments

Pedro Jule (Registrar) has been elected to serve on the Administrative Faculty Committee. 
Jennifer Bonilla (Registrar and Health Care Administration) has been appointed by Gov. Brian Sandoval to the Board of Directors of the Public Employees' Benefits Program. Her appointment to serve NSHE employees and other Nevadans will run from July 1, 2018, to June 20, 2022.
Philip Danquah (Environmental and Occupational Health) is this year's recipient of the prestigious Michelle Chino Dissertation Scholarship awarded by the School of Community Health Sciences. The award was presented at the school's honors recognition reception in April. He also works as a graduate assistant in the registrar's office.  â€¦
Mayra Cardoso (Registrar) received the Classified Employee of the Month for the month of December. 
Huiling Rojas (Registrar) has been named the Administrative Faculty of the Month for December. Her outstanding accomplishment cannot be summarized by a single project or event that benefited the department or university, according to Peter Kim, senior associate registrar.
