Pat Mulroy, general manager for the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) and Las Vegas Valley Water District, will be honored by The Women's Research Institute of Nevada at UNLV (WRIN) with the WRIN Leadership Award.
The award is given to an individual who has made significant contributions as a mentor and leader in the Las Vegas community. As general manager of the SNWA, Mulroy oversees the operations of the agencies which serve more than 1.8 million customers and 40 million annual visitors. Mulroy is a principal architect of the SNWA and is actively involved in regional and national water issues and works on efforts to increase water conservation in Southern Nevada.
Paula Francis, an anchorwoman for KLAS-TV, will emcee the event. A silent auction begins at 6 p.m. followed by the program, coffee and desserts at 7 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will benefit WRIN. WRIN seeks to improve the lives of all Nevadans through research and education. Founded in 1999, WRIN accomplishes its mission through the collection, preservation and analysis of information on women and girls in the state. WRIN supports the research of three areas: the National Education for Women's Leadership program, the Status of Women in the State, and the Las Vegas Women Oral History Project.
